FACULTY

Adam Ali

Piano Teacher

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Adam Ali first learned the piano at age six with his grandmother, Lalan Parrott, who was herself a pupil of the legendary pianist and pedagogue Rosina Lhevinne. After several years, Adam entered the Prep Division of Mannes College, joining the studio of Irina Edelman. At the same time, he attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia School of the Arts, and graduated from both schools with honors. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in piano performance at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, where he studied under Dr. Donald Pirone.

Adam has given numerous solo and chamber performances in the New York City area, in such venues as Mannes Concert Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Steinway Hall, and Alice Tully Hall. At Queens College, Adam was the recipient of several awards and scholarships, and he gave a number of recitals in the esteemed LeFrak Concert Hall, where his programs included such works as J.S. Bach’s Partita No. 6 in E minor, Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes, and Brahms’ Piano Sonata no. 2 in F-sharp minor. In 2016, he performed Schumann’s Piano Concerto with the Queens College Symphony Orchestra.

Holding a firm belief that every child should experience classical music, Adam enjoys an extensive career as a piano instructor. He currently serves on the faculties of East-West Music School and the Lawrence Eisman Center for Preparatory Studies in Music at Queens College, in addition to his work as Music Director at Grace Baptist Chapel. He is pleased to join the Suzuki on the Island family.
